Reason: Big guns drafted in to weld up my gates. Vertical welds with solid wire on galv. Sound. A bit of of paint (lots of) will make it look spot on 😂

Anyway, I needed to come in this weekend and test half a dozen brand new hire plant Arc Gen 400 CC/CV diesel welder generator MIG packages with new ESAB RobustFeed AVS wire feeders.

These RobustFeed AVS rental feeders are the best on earth, and can pretty much feed barbed wire. They work brill @ 100mtrs away from the diesel welder generator, but one thing I will say is that always use them on ‘CV’ setting on a diesel welder generator (and switch them to CV inside the AVS feeder).

The ESAB Warrior 500 415V power source also has ‘Mobile Feed CV‘ knob setting on the front, which is basically the same as the diesel welder generator open circuit voltage CV supply. This is what you need to set it on when using the AVS, and the feeder will be infinity more stable on this mode (rather than ‘CC’ Constant Current mode). We’ve tried it on every imaginable make and model welding diesel welder generator and 240V & 415V welding machine on CC stick weld mode, and it’s just not as good (we’ve never found a site feeder that is good on CC).

So there ya have it. Dodgy welds and a geezer who looks like Catweazle. All in a days work 🫡
