The ESAB Fabricator 401i is the best ‘industry standard’ water cooled MIG welder for mild steel.
This machine has been designed exclusively for welding 1.0 or 1.2mm mild steel wire in spray transfer for long durations, which is what most fabrication shops require. It’s a machine that’ll survive, deliver consisent and reliable results with a wonderfully smooth and stable arc at high amperage, and will do exactly what it’s intended to do… weld mild steel.
It doesn’t offer synergic and pulsed MIG processes for exotic materials and hyper critical results, however if that’s what you doing then the ESAB Warrior Edge 500 @ £8,000 is the machine for you.
